Windows OS end of support dates
As you may already know, Microsoft have announced the end of support, security updates, etc for Windows XP SP3. After this date, 8th April 2014 XP will be considered vulnerable to hacker attacks and there will be no fixes made available by Microsoft. I do recommend that you upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8 by this time.
There is a checker available to see if your machine will work with Windows 7 and also one for Windows 8. If your machine will, and you wish to upgrade to either operating system, please get in touch for my price, I may well be able to offer a better price than Microsoft's.
Vista end of Support date is the 11th April 2017 and you can use the same checkers to see if Windows 7 or 8 will work with your machine.
Windows 7 end of Support date is January 2020 by which time one hopes the next version of Windows is available.
Rather than simply upgrade OS, if you are one of my clients or live in the Ilkley area, please get in touch as I might be able to source you a newer computer (desktop or Laptop) with Windows 7 or even 8 already installed. The newer computer could be a better buy with upgraded hardware compared with one several years old, bigger Harddrive, more Memory, faster processor etc.
But if you love your existing computer, still get in touch, I may be able to source you the OS of your choice at a better price than direct from MS.
The rumor at the present time is that if you have Windows 7 or 8 currently, you will be able to take up a free upgrade copy of Windows 10 later in 2015.
